Paper Tiger TV Comes to CAT

Community Access Television and the Southwest Region of the Alliance for Community Media, with support from the Benton Foundation and University of Arkansas' Walter J. Lemmke Department of Journalism are excited to announce that Paper Tiger Television will be at our Create-Connect-Community Media Summit on March 27 & 28 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel just off the Historic Downtown Square in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Below is a description of what Paper Tiger will be presenting!

Media and Democracy: The Next Frontier
This presentation will explore future directions in media reform activism in a world of changing technology, evolving policy ideas and emerging strategies for social change. The workshop will focus on innovative concepts in community media production.

Workshop Description
How can the low budget production and distribution methods pioneered by the PTTV video collective inspire the community media movement? And how can media advocates collaborate with media artists and community producers? In this session, the PTTV collective will present a historical as well as current look at their innovative approach to media production. The workshop will be centered around short clips from their recent documentary on the history of Paper Tiger, their public access programs, and examples of short media reform videos designed for internet distribution. Each clip will be followed by a round-table discussion on strategies for media artists, media scholars and media activists to work together. This session will be the launching point to consider innovative ways to create a more equitable and healthy media democracy.

Hurry up and register, if you want the Early Bird rate! The program is shaping up nicely and we are going to have some great conversations about the value and worth of Community Media.
